Partly Facetious: The US does care about Osama compound

"Osama bin Laden's compound was razed to the ground."
Published February 28, 2012

"Osama bin Laden's compound was razed to the ground."
"I don't understand why?"
"Well, why not for that matter."
"Was the decision taken by the owner of the compound?"
"I doubt it, I mean if I want my old house to be razed to the ground I don't think I can request our security forces to do it."
"Do you think this is because of US pressure?"
"Why would the US care what happens to the compound?"
"Maybe the US thinks that it may become a shrine, you know that's why the US claims it buried Osama bin Laden at sea."
"Well, as we all know the US is not always known for sensible appropriate decision making."
"Agreed, the Koran burning in Afghanistan shows that doesn't it!"
"Yes, but for that Obama apologized though not for killing 24 of our soldiers!"
"It all depends on what he perceives as US interests, Qoran burning was undermining US troops' ability to operate in that war-torn country while killing our soldiers did nothing of the sort."
"I see, but you know the US listened to the Afghan public opinion but doesn't heed ours."
"Ours can be dismissed as the views of fundamentalists."
"And there are no fundamentalists in Afghanistan or the US for that matter?"
"Whatever you may think of Obama he is not a fundamentalist."
"I think he has the right vision but no guts to carry his vision through in the foreign policy arena, I mean look at his backing down with respect to Israel."
"I guess, so going back to the demolition of bin Laden's compound you reckon it was to ensure that it doesn't become a shrine?"
"If I were the government I would have charged an entrance fee to the compound, I am sure we would have had many tourists, we could sell a package deal: come to Pakistan and visit the last known earthly residence of bin Laden..."
"Don't be facetious, and in any case our government believes in commissions and I reckon there were none to be had if your suggestion was followed!"
